Turmeric Golden Granola

We Love being golden whether it’s the color of flowers or sunshine. Golden always puts a smile and naturally it's a happy color.  In addition turmeric is vibrant and golden.  

Turmeric is a powerful super spice! This medicinal spice helps with inflammation throughout your body. This in turn helps with 2 of our most important bodily functions; digestion and a healthy immune system.

Allow this deliciously kid approved ‘Golden Granola’ to be an introduction to this magical spice.

Prep Time - 1 hour
Servings - 2 cups

TOOLS:

  • Small bowl
  • Medium bowl
  • Spatula
  • Table and teaspoon
  • Mason jar for storing
  • Whisk
  • Baking sheet or wax paper

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups gluten-free oats
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil (sun melted)
  • 3 tbsp smooth tahini
  • 2-3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon of each powder; turmeric, ginger, cardamon, cinnamon
  • 2 pinches of sea salt

DIRECTIONS:

  • Warm your coconut oil in a small bowl and place in direct sunlight for 20 mins, if you live somewhere warm. Otherwise place in a warm oven on a low temperature of 170.  NINJA WARNING: when using hot items ask an adult for help, especially when removing the oil from the oven 

  • Preheat your oven at 275 degrees

  • Whisk all your ingredients EXCEPT the oats in your medium bowl.  They should be smooth and it should have a beautiful golden color.

  • Next is the fun! With your hands mix the oats and wet ingredients until the oats are fully covered.

  • On a baking sheet spread your granola evenly, not allowing big balls or clumps of granola.  We recommended pushing it flat.

  • Place in the oven for 15 minutes than move your granola around so it evenly cooks. 

  • Bake for another 15 minutes than remove and let cool for 30 minutes to an hour.

  • Store in your mason jar and enjoy. (this can be a dry storage item)
